July 18-22: ENL Summer Training Series

Sign up to take part in one or all of the series topics we will be offering throughout the week. Whether you're interested in brushing up on a few skills, or if you're new to the ENL classroom, consider taking part in this summer series.

Each class is offered at Noon and 6:00 pm on its designated day. Choose from either time.

 (min of 5 attendees required)

Class Topics:

Monday July 18-

“Learning Theory for Adults and Multiple Intelligences”: Explore the various ways in which people learn, and how teaching adults may differ from teaching children. These issues can influence and guide you as you prepare lessons to meet the various needs of all of your students.

Tuesday July 19-

“Using the Oxford Picture Dictionary curriculum”: Writers and editors of curriculum and instructional materials have a specific function and use in mind for them, as they put those materials together. Learn how to get the most out of this series of instructional tools, which is considered to be among the best.

Wednesday July 20-

“Cyber Tools and Resources for the ENL Instructor”: Do you like to use technology for your own research or creation of resources? OR, do you find using technology to be frustrating? In either case, we will explore how to make the most of these tools and resources, so that you can maximize their use for your own instructional purposes.

Thursday July 21-

“Putting a Lesson Together”: Now what? Where do I start?—Having a plan is half the battle when it comes to teaching. In this session, we will talk about some strategies for developing lessons, and how to implement them.

Friday July 22-

“ENL Lessons in Action & Checking for Understanding”: In this session, we will observe simple lessons to identify where various strategies are taking place. We will also discuss and share ways to gauge what your students are learning.
